 FAQs

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) means we do not bill insurance, we only charge patients directly, one monthly fee. There are no co-pays, deductibles, or surprise fees to worry about. You pay a flat monthly fee for comprehensive care that is straightforward, affordable, and accessible

  • We deal with the entire scope and spectrum of primary care that a family physician may offer including:

    1. Scope: Chronic disease management, acute/urgent issues, new symptom complaints, etc

    2. Spectrum: Primary/Family care, Men’s health, Women’s health, Preventative care, Rehabilitative care, Integrative/Functional medicine

  • You will likely appreciate our care model most IF:

    1. You strongly value continuity of care, in particular for chronic disease management (ex. Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Hypertension, autoimmune disease)

    2. You want a personal relationship with a physician (MD) who knows you well and quarterbacks your healthcare. Hospital visits, specialist appointments, and surgeries are all events that benefit from a coordinating physician overseeing your care

    3. You value fluid communication with your physician (ie messaging, virtual visits)

    4. You are less interested in in-person care

    If you simply want a quick virtual visit for a one-time issue, you might be better served by the usual large telemedicine practices (Amazon, Teladoc, etc)

  • No, Noctis Health is entirely virtual/tele-health based. Of course this means there are some things we won’t be able to do (Ex. Pap smears, ear exams). In these cases we will help you find a suitable in-person alternative if needed. With that being said, a significant portion of primary care can reliably be managed virtually in the modern age.

  • We do not bill insurance. Most patients however still have insurance coverage for unexpected events such as surgeries, hospital stays, and emergency department visits. We do not recommend you cancel your insurance when joining a virtual practice.

  • If you have a PCP who is accessible and you are happy with their care there is likely little benefit in joining a virtual DPC practice on top.

    1. As mentioned above things that require a physical exam (ex. pap smear)

    2. We do not prescribe controlled substances, as government regulations require an initial in-person visit prior to prescribing

  • We currently offer our services in the states of Iowa and Washington states, with more coming soon!

  • We prescribe your medications just like your regular medical doctor would. You can decide to pay out of pocket or use your insurance if you have a plan that covers medications

  • When needed, we order lab work and imaging for you, and similar to prescriptions, you can either choose to pay the lab/imaging center directly, or use your insurance. If paying directly we can obtain labs at greatly discounted rates
